George Liaskas

Manager of the Apolis Global Macro-1 SIF-SICAV

George is the manager of the alternative investment fund Apolis Global Macro – 1. Additionally, he contributes in shaping the broader investment strategy of Iolcus Investments. He has more than 30 years of experience in investment management. Before joining Iolcus, he served as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of NBG Asset Management. From 2005 to 2008 he was the manager of Iolcus SPC, a global macro hedge fund established by P&K, listed in the Dublin Stock Exchange. In 2008 Iolcus SPC managed to maintain absolute positive returns, becoming one of the few hedge funds globally that managed to do that during the Great Financial Crisis. Prior to that, he was the CIO of Eurobank MFMC from 2000 to 2005, managing himself the largest bond mutual fund in Greece at the time, with €2 billion under management and returns that consistently outperformed its benchmark. From 1990 to 1999 he worked for Intertrust, initially as a financial analyst, later as an investment manager and finally as the company’s CIO.
George is a certified portfolio manager, holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Texas, Austin, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Piraeus.
